Why did the Russians "photoshop" yellow smile on Kim Jong-un's face?
That North Koreans have a custom "photoshop" picture that is released around the world is nothing new - nor are Russians even spreading fake news out there ... However, according to Matt Novak of Gizmodo, Recently, a newscast broadcast by a Russian state channel showed a photo in which Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov appears alongside Kim Jong-un and, for some reason, decided to replace the dictator's usual scowl with a smirk. Look:
According to Matt, the portrait was displayed during a painting called "News of the Week" and it wasn't long before someone very attentive to the details realized the difference between the image shown on TV and the one shared by the Russian minister on Twitter. Thus, Matt suggests that the photoshopping has to do with an attempt by the Russians to convince the population that the old Soviet-era comrades are not "trussing" with the Western powers. Only to be caught manipulating images like this - over and over again! - does not help much in terms of credibility, right?
