Light projections turn trees into gods [gallery]

The curious image above, by French photographer Clément Briend, is part of a series of tree portraits with faces of Cambodian deities projected over the crowns. According to the folks at Peta Pixel, Briend is known for photographing images projected on various surfaces and in the most unusual spaces.

For this new project, Briend traveled to Cambodia to photograph spirits and gods adored by the country's people, who seem to wake up at night to transform the tree tops into true light sculptures that adorn the cityscape. Check out more images from the series in the gallery below:
