How much sugar do you consume when you drink an alcoholic beverage?

Sugar becomes a big villain when it comes to diet and healthy eating, as too much sugar can contribute to weight gain and increase the risk of heart disease or diabetes.

It's hard to dodge it even with drinks that look healthy, as is the case with juices: while eating a fruit has no major problems, juice with several of them can have stratospheric levels of fructose, the most "natural" version of sugar. .

But what about alcohol? While pure, they are usually not a problem - at least with respect to the element. When mixed with other types, however, especially in the preparation of drinks, the story changes a little. So check below and check how much sugar you consume when you drink any of the drinks listed:

Gin and Tonic

The preparation of the drink consists of, as the name implies, mixing gin and tonic water. The alcoholic part contains no sugar, but the tonic water can reach almost 20 grams, or just over 36% of the recommended daily intake.

Cuba Libre

Well known in Brazil, the most common version of Cuba Libre carries rum and coke. Again the alcoholic part has no danger regarding the amount of sugar, but the soda is the biggest villain in history and can contribute approximately 27.5 grams of the element, or 55% of the recommended daily intake.

Vodka with Energetic

Following the same principle as the previous two, vodka alone contains almost no sugar, but energy can reach 11 grams per 100mL, or approximately 19% of the recommended daily intake.

White wine

According to the FatSecret website, a 125-mL glass of white wine contains an average of 1.4 grams of sugar, which is just over 2% of the recommended intake. It is natural that this value varies according to the brand or type of wine.

Red wine

The dark version of the brew has even less sugar than white wine: it is less than 1 gram per 125mL glass, or 2% of the recommended daily intake.

Sparkling wine

The overconsumed drink at ballads and also on New Year's Eve contains, on average, 0.81 grams of sugar for a dose of 105mL, or just under the 2% recommended daily intake.

Beer

One of the favorites among Brazilians, beer - in its best known versions: lager and pilsen - does not contain sugar in its composition, that is, if there is any impact on the recommended daily consumption, it is minimal. There are, however, other carbohydrates from the other components of the drink.

However, it is very important to point out that sugar is not the only villain if consumed in excess: alcohol can also be extremely harmful to both diet and especially to health. So take it easy and drink in moderation!
