What elephants that swim! Dolphins have the best memories of the animal kingdom

They are cute, happy and love to do stunts in the waters of the oceans (and also in the parks). Yes, dolphins are all that and now it has been revealed that they also hold the best memory of the Animal Kingdom. That's because new experiments have proven that these marine mammals can remember whistles from other dolphins that they lived after 20 years of separation.

According to scientists, each dolphin has a unique whistle that acts as a name, allowing them to maintain close social ties. Thus, new research has shown that dolphins have the longest memory (so far studied) than any other animal species.

Tests

Elephants and chimpanzees have similar abilities, but they have not yet been fully tested. The study's author, Jason Bruck, studied dolphins because their social ties are extremely important and because there are good records of captive dolphins.

Thus, he collected data from 43 dolphins at six facilities in the US and Bermuda, testing with strange and familiar whistles. In general, dolphins responded more to the animals they had known for decades, suggesting they recognized their former mates.
