Scanner Merges Tomography Types to Innovate Human Body Records

Technology is a great ally of medicine when it comes to diagnosing and seeking new and more efficient ways of treating the most varied diseases that exist. By the way, scientists have created a new technology that should be of great help when making diagnostics.

It is a complete body imaging system called Explorer. It is the first body imaging device in the world that can record a three-dimensional image of the complete human body at one time. The first images taken by the device have been released, and are rich in detail - the result was so surprising that one of the scientists involved in the project even said he was surprised!

The scanner, in fact, was created by scientists Simon Cherry and Ramsey Badawi, and was developed in partnership with the United Imaging HealthCare, Shanghai Institute. In the future, the company will create more scanners and make them available in the healthcare device market.

Explorer performance comes from combining positron emission tomography with computed x-ray tomography. In addition, the machine's design allows radiation to be captured much more efficiently than other scanners - which in practice means producing an image in just 1 second.

This device has several uses that can be applied in practice, such as improving diagnostics and better monitoring of disease development over time. In the future, Explorer may even produce videos of special substances running through the human body, which may contribute to examinations and studies.
