Are you afraid of divorce? So get married asap!

If getting married is in your plans, you might want to be aware of a new analysis released by the Washington Post. The information you will see below was collected by University of Utah sociologist Nicholas H. Wolfinger, who looked at family data to find out the best age for marriage.

The documents analyzed by Wolfinger suggest that the more mature people are when they marry, the more likely they are to divorce, contrary to what we are used to believe.

Oddly enough, the risk of divorce is much lower among couples who were married in their teens or twenties. After 30, however, the likelihood that the marriage will end in divorce only increases and peaks around the age of 45, as you can see in the chart below:

"Those who marry when they are almost 40 are now more likely to get divorced compared to those who marry when they are almost 30, " said the sociologist, who had access to the National Growth Survey database. Family, a branch of the US Department of Health.

The low divorce rate among couples who changed their rings in their teens or twenties suggests that older age allows us to have more criteria. The mate that would be perfect for a 19-year-old might not be seen in this way by the same person at 30.

As for people who marry after 40, Wolfinger suggests that perhaps they are just subjects whose profiles do not fit the traditional patterns of marriage, which, as we are well aware, is quite possible: there are people who simply do not want to get married. Then the rule applies to everyone; After all, doing something just to follow a social pattern is likely to go wrong.

It is noteworthy that Wolfinger's data analysis resulted in a plot of probabilities, not certainty. Thus, we are not saying that all people who marry at 40 or later are not ideal for marriage or divorce. The point is just that, according to the data, they are more likely to get divorced than who married early.
