NASA astronaut candidate quits for first time in 50 years

Many children dream of becoming astronauts, but achieving this feat is very difficult, especially here in Brazil. In the United States, where there is more consistent and broader work in this sector, the chances are a little higher but still quite remote.

Proof of this is that in 2017, out of a group of 18, 000 candidates, only 12 were selected to participate in the training program to become a space traveler from NASA, the US state-owned space state. Among them was Robb Kulin, who has just resigned and become the first agency “intern” to do so in 50 years - before him, the last candidate to drop out of the program did so in 1968.

Kulin is currently 34 years old and has not given much details about why he gave up being a NASA astronaut. According to CBS News, he was halfway through the program at the Johnson Space Center and only claimed personal reasons for the sudden withdrawal.
