Tickling is one of the most normal reactions in humans, after all, it is difficult to know someone who does not have it - even if it is in a very small region, for example. However, you may have realized that you cannot do it in your own body, right?

The reason for this "ban" is in your brain. It all starts with the fact that tickling is an ancient method of defending your body to identify small dangers such as spiders walking down your leg - that is, a mechanism that perceives the unexpected and the unpleasant.

However, your brain recognizes every movement of your body, so the beating of your heart or the movement of the vocal cords is not considered strange. Thus, the act of touching your own body is already expected and your defense mechanism is not triggered.

Because of this, you can't tickle yourself - which isn't a defect, because it's cool to make other people squirm with laughter.
