10 movie scenes before and after visual effects

That cinema is pure illusion, no one doubts. With so many monsters and creatures created on computers, futuristic, fantasy or sci-fi scenarios, as well as many different editing tricks and effects, we know that much of what we see on screen is the result of a long production process.

Nevertheless, it is very difficult to know nowadays how far the capture techniques go, what is really a studio or location setting and what is chroma key (as the green or blue backdrops used for application are known). post-production effects).

In the selection of images below, you can learn how some scenes from movies and TV series were made. There are iconic films in this list, known for their abusive use of visual effects, such as "The Matrix", "The Adventures of Pi" and "Avatar" - works that we have a hard time understanding how they were produced.

There are also some surprises, with sequences and assemblies that you could not even suspect used so many compositing effects. This is the case of the series “Ugly Betty” and the Argentine film “The Secret of Your Eyes”, which use the green background to recreate realistic scenarios of the city and the football stadium.

This is proof that we can't really believe what we see, especially in the movie theater or on the TV screen, because even the simplest landscapes are modeled by computers.

To give a video demonstration of the effects application, we finally split a clip from the movie “The Great Gatsby” (2013) that reveals different aspects of the construction of the cinematographic work.
