The term, the union of the English words “dashboard” and “camera”, refers to that practice of placing a camcorder on the car dashboard (or motorcycle helmet) to capture everything that happens while using the vehicle.

This is something that happens quite often in Russia, where residents of the country use a camera mainly to catch corrupt police. However, this practice spread around the world and was responsible for recording some of the most spectacular videos on the internet, such as a meteorite explosion and a high-speed accident.
