Bizarre: Know the melting fish if it reaches the surface

We know that there is still much to discover on the planet, including in the abyssal zones: places full of at least peculiar creatures and where no human being can reach. And that is why scientists have devoted so much time and developed new techniques to learn more about beings living in the deep.

Three of these new discoveries were made by scientists from the University of Newcastle in the Atacama Trench off the coast of Peru. At a depth of 7, 500 meters, almost freezing temperatures and unbearable pressures on humans, they found three new species of snail fish.

According to the researchers, this fish not only has enormous adaptability, but is also the largest predator in that area. There, he has plenty of food and is not at risk, which makes the species thrive.

Living only under pressure

The problem is that the biggest advantage of these fish is also the cause of the difficulty for scientists: what makes them survive under such pressure and cold is that their body is basically a soft, almost boneless, soft mass. In fact, because of this, they depend on this environment to survive. When the pressure decreases and the water begins to heat up, these fish weaken and simply start to melt.

One of the captured could not even survive all the way to the surface, which made scientists realize that it will not be possible to study them alive. The most that could be done was to preserve the dead fish and use it for study.
