3 projects that will give you an idea of what future vehicles will look like

If you are a car fan and are keen on the trends that are coming, you know that soon, our streets will be full of autonomous vehicles that will circulate without the need for someone to take the wheel. And if you think this news is in the distant future, according to El Motor's Marcos Baeza, the first full autopilot cars will hit the market in 2021 - that is, practically tomorrow!

According to Baeza, these vehicles will not only turn drivers into passengers, they will allow people to use commuting time to rest, enjoy the ride and even work. And it is predicted that by the year 2025, these technologies will have become more widespread - and by 2030 they will begin to transform city traffic. Just think, dear reader, it's only 13 years in the future!

Transformations

Analysts envision a very different future, in which autopilot cars will begin to be used collectively and will gradually replace private cars. As a result, the number of vehicles in circulation is expected to fall - thus reducing not only traffic jams in large urban centers, but also pollutant emissions. This issue, by the way, is another promise, as more and more electric cars are expected to take to the streets.

Also, of course we will probably see models with different lines from the current ones in five or ten years. Among the projects that are popping out there are autonomously moving robotic automobiles, dispensing with driver and therefore steering wheel and other control devices, as well as crash-proof motorcycles and flying vehicles that can avoid congestion on land and circulate even where there is no infrastructure.

According to Baeza, if the projects really get off the ground, it is possible that the reduction in the number of cars in circulation and the capacity of the new models will lead to the emergence of cities with a smaller traffic surface, with wider sidewalks, more green areas and with more leisure options. Want to know more about these conceptual vehicles? Check it out below:

1 - Volkswagen Sedric

Imagine a vehicle that meets you with just the push of a button. That's the proposal of Volkswagen's Sedric, an autopilot car - devoid of steering wheel or pedals - that can seat up to four people and can be 'called' through a small remote control. Look:

Look at the control in the passenger's hand

The name Sedric comes from Se Df Ving C ar - or autonomous car in English - and because it is an electric model, it will not produce emissions. At first, the idea is that the model is intended for particular use. However, it could work as a fleet vehicle too, especially considering that it will have a range of about 400 kilometers.

Sedric

The concept model was unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and, according to Baeza, Volkswagen announced that its first full autonomous model will be launched in 2025. So if all goes well, Sedric could hit the streets before 2030.

2 - Airbus Pop.Up

Airbus's Pop.Up is a conceptual model that most closely resembles a helicopter-car hybrid - and if it becomes a commercial vehicle, it can travel by land as well as by air. What's more, this contraption will be powered by electricity, will operate autonomously and will have a range of approximately 130 kilometers to travel on the ground and 100 kilometers flying.

Half car, half helicopter

The idea is that Pop.Up will be used for public transport and, according to the project, passengers would go to a station to board one of them. Once on board, travelers would be taken to their destination - at speeds of about 100 kilometers per hour - and after the occupants safely landed, the vehicle would return alone to pick up more people.

So, would you ride on such a machine?

According to Baeza, Airbus believes Pop.Up could be on the streets - and in the air - within 7 to 10 years. However, the company announced that in order to become a viable reality, it would be necessary, among other things, for changes in air traffic regulations to enable these vehicles to fly over cities.

3 - BMW Motorrad Next 100

It is not just cars and flying machines that populate the imagination of engineers. The bikes were also rethought, and one concept that drew a lot of attention was the BMW Motorrad Next 100. Equipped with a system that keeps it balanced on its own, this motorcycle could even dispense with the use of helmets or protective clothing, as the rider would never fall off her.

Pretty, right?

According to Baeza, the Motorrad Next 100 would be an electric motorcycle made of carbon fiber and aluminum, which would greatly reduce its weight and increase its autonomy. In addition, it would come equipped with various electronic safety systems that would improve its behavior and would not have a speedometer or other physical instruments - and all information exchange between Motorrad and the biker would happen through a pair of controlled virtual reality glasses. through eye movement.

Imagine taking a stroll on such a beauty!

So, dear reader, what do you think of the concepts listed above? Do you believe they will come true or never get off the artboards? By the way, if you could choose, which one would you like to see on the streets before?
