5 makeshift weapons that have ever been found in prisons

It's no secret that when it comes to making weapons, prisoners are incredibly ingenious and creative. They are able to create real arsenals with whatever falls into their hands, and then you can check out a series of examples - selected from an unusual list posted by Robert Grimminck from TopTenz - amazing:

1 - Knife disguised as crucifix

Knives are undoubtedly among the most popular weapons manufactured in chains. In fact, when we refer to “pocket knives” in the context of prisons, we are talking about sharp and piercing objects, and prisoners can create these weapons from endless material such as metal pieces, sharp toothbrushes, etc. .

Jesus...

However, the above example, all beautiful and well done, was produced by detainees in the Wolfenbüttel prison in Germany. Discovered in the cell of one of the prisoners in 1994, the knife hidden inside the crucifix was allegedly made in one of the prison's own workshops and was used in an attempt to escape.

2 - Sharp whip

The spooky whip you will see next was found in 1996 at Hamburg's Fuhlsbüttel Prison, also in Germany. The weapon was discovered after the detainee got into trouble with some prison officials and had his cell searched. Take a look!

Have you thought!

The guy was a drug user and was disgusted when he asked for an extra dose of methadone and was denied his "request". He then thought it a good idea to threaten the prison nurse with a knife. Yeah! Before facing the sinister whip in the photo above, the prison officers had to take the knife from the detainee's hands.

3 - Stacked Shotgun

And since we're talking about chain-produced weapons in Germany, here's another example found there: an (impressive) shotgun made with the iron feet of a bed and lead pieces that the ingenious prisoners found in a curtain. In addition, in place of gunpowder, the detainees used match heads - which were driven by a broken lamp and batteries. Can this?

Pure ingenuity

The shotgun was discovered in 1984 in a prison in Celle, a city south of Hamburg, when two inmates surrendered an officer during an escape attempt. Luckily, no one died in the incident, but surprisingly, the pair managed to escape from jail!

4 - Handmade pistol

The small revolver you'll see next was found in a Canadian penitentiary, and despite its rudimentary appearance, it can fire .22 caliber bullets. Incidentally, this type of weapon is very much feared in Canada - so much so that the Canadian Correctional Service even included a specific chapter on them in manuals for prison officers.

Rudimentary but potentially lethal

The problem with these revolvers is that they are incredibly easy to hide inside the cells. This is because, when not in use, weapons can be easily disassembled, and the parts, when viewed independently, go unnoticed and appear to pose no risk. However, inmates need a few minutes to reassemble the pistols - and they can be deadly.

5 - Beast

Imagine the surprise of the officers who discovered the weapon you can see next! Found in 1998 in a medium-security penitentiary center, the unique crossbow was made from a variety of materials, including 10 toothbrushes, a lighter, a piece of wire hanger, strips of a rubber glove, paper and some string. Check out:

Singular

Already the "arrows" were produced with cotton swabs, paper rolls, that metallized paper that exists in cigarette packs, pieces of wire and tape. Interestingly, after the beast was confiscated, the guards did ballistic tests with her and found that she could shoot darts quite accurately at distances of more than 10 meters.
