7 Mistakes of Missing Basic School Lessons

1. Braveheart

One of William Wallace's biggest brands, besides his blue face, is the kilt he wears, even in battle. However, Scottish kilt was not invented until the 16th century, well after the 1300s, the period in which history is set.

2. Django Free

The movie is set just before the US Civil War, which began in 1861, but even so, Jamie Foxx's character wears sunglasses that were only invented in 1929. Also, when they were created, very few people wore, except for medical purposes.

3. Titanic

At the beginning of the movie, Jack tells Rose that his father used to fish on Lake Wissota and that one day he fell into its icy waters and was not cool at all. It would be a good story if the lake in question had not been created just 5 years after the real Titanic sank.

4. Gladiator

No movie is free of historical errors that are hard to notice. For much of the movie, Russell Crowe's character is called "The Spaniard, " or "The Spanish." However, this term came only in the 14th century, a very long time after the year 180 - the period in which the film takes place.

5. Independence Day

As the aliens blow up the Empire State, a stream spreads through the streets that lead to the building - a beautiful geographic error as the New York symbol building is on a corner.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End

At one point in the movie, Captain Sparrow points his boat at Singapore. That would not be a problem, except that the country was founded only 100 years after the story is set.

7. The Panic Room

In one scene, Jodie Foster attempts to create a fire using propane. In the movie, this even works and the fire consumes the upper floor of the house. However, this gas is heavier than air: if the character released into the room where she was, the room would explode with her inside.
