8 Things That Should Have Been Exterminated by Today's Technology

Many of the technologies that have come into the world in recent decades are already outdated, but not all of them have been abandoned by consumers. This means that there are many materials gathering dust in homes around the world, as well as many that only remain in operation for the sake of convenience - not always freeing yourself from something is simple.

Do you still use VHS tapes? Are your CDs still working or have they become decorative objects? Although still existing, these two technologies are already increasingly obsolete and have long been outdated by other, more modern items - great examples of what we said earlier.

And what other technologies should have already been abandoned? Check out our selection right now and see which objects have been practically wiped out by modernity.

1. Folding maps

If you're under 16, you may never have seen your parents having trouble finding an address - with a giant map on their lap and unfolding every bit of it to find the desired street. For although this is less seen today, there are still many folding maps under car seats. You might already imagine that mobile phone GPSs can easily replace them.

2. Alarms & Alarm Clocks

This is one of the most controversial items, as there are many consumers who still use ordinary alarm clocks - and even those with strings. But the truth is that most of them could already have been replaced by smartphones with programmed alarms - and up to five five-minute naps. You just can't forget to charge the device's battery, of course.

3. CDs

Collectors: This is not for you. Many consumers buy records because of one or two songs and then completely forget about the CDs that were left on the shelves. If this is your case, it may be time for you to go to the nearest tallow to sell your relics.

4. PDAs

OK, you may not even know what a PDA is. This is quite possible because they have been less and less frequent in the corporate world - as they are being replaced by smartphones, of course. “Pocket computers, ” as they were called, are now reserved in small niches on the international market.

5. Dial-up Internet

With cheaper and faster broadband plans, using dial-up has become the wrong decision in 99% of cases. In addition to being much slower, such connections are unstable and costly at the end of the month.

6. VHS Tapes

As with CDs, VHS tapes are still well-liked by collectors. The difference is that these materials are no longer produced and if you would like to see a movie that came out after 2000, you are unlikely to succeed with that kind of technology. Unless, of course, you record with your four-head VCR.

7. Compact Cameras

Compact cameras are part of another technology that has been virtually annihilated by smartphones. These handsets are less portable, less functional and less connected. Therefore, they are increasingly close to being completely extinct from the market.

8. Fixed Telephony

Does anyone still call your house? Exclusive use of mobile devices is increasingly common and this is being seen all over the world - and in all age groups. Will fixed telephony ever be completely extinguished? Or will it still be needed because of the internet until fiber optics arrives once and for all?
