9 Things You Should NEVER Do on an Empty Stomach

1. Take anti-inflammatory drugs

Aspirin, acetaminophen and other anti-inflammatory medicines can cause serious gastric problems if taken on an empty stomach. An alternative is to take these milk remedies, which alleviates the negative effects.

2. Drink Coffee

Even decaf makes your body produce the acid that causes heartburn and other gastric problems. An alternative is to drink coffee with milk or cream, as its fats help counteract the bad effects of the drink.

3. Drink alcohol

On an empty stomach, alcohol absorption can double and worsen the hangover the next day - not to mention, of course, the problems you can have with your heart, liver and kidneys. If you can't escape, avoid carbonated drinks as they get absorbed faster.

4. Chewing Gum

Chewing gum with nothing on your stomach causes your stomach to produce gastric juice for nothing, damaging the inner wall of the organ. If this becomes constant, you may even develop gastritis and an ulcer! If there is no way, try chewing gum for a maximum of 10 minutes and avoid products containing sugar, cyclamate and aspartame.

5. Sleep

Going to bed on an empty stomach is asking for an irregular night's sleep. Low blood glucose levels can make you wake up earlier than normal, and have a lighter, interrupted sleep. Of course, sleeping with a full paunch is not good either, so try to eat something light, such as milk products, for a more peaceful night.

6. Practice intense exercise

Some people believe that heavy exercise or exercise on an empty stomach can help you lose fat. This has not been proven, but according to several researchers, muscle mass decreases if you exercise this way. The ideal is always to have a snack before getting into the heavy.

7. Shopping

Have you ever hit the market hungry and left with a lot more stuff than you needed? This happens in any store, as the lack of food makes us more insatiable, but it is in the market that this becomes very evident. It helps if you make a shopping list and decide to pay in cash, having a stipulated amount to spend before entering the establishment.

8. Discuss

An empty stomach makes us more likely to prolong unnecessary discussions as we run out of self-control for lack of energy to do so. If the conversation is unavoidable, you can have tea while you speak out in a calmer, more civilized way.

9. Drink Citrus Juices

Excessive acidity can cause irritation on the inner wall of your stomach, so avoid very citrus juices. For gastritis or ulcer sufferers, this is a poison! One option is to further dilute the drink, but ideally avoid it.
