Track skydive live space

Date: 10/14/2012

Expected time of the jump: 12:15 (Brasilia) - updated

Do you remember the news about Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner, who aims to break the world record - and the sound barrier with his own body - by jumping from a height of 36 kilometers?

The jump is due to take place this morning and the RedBull folks will broadcast the complete live adventure from takeoff until the moment Felix finally hits the ground!

According to the website, more than 35 cameras are expected to cover the event, which will be accompanied by people from all over the world through RedBull's YouTube channel - which you can follow on this page. To learn more about the project, you can visit www.redbullstratos.com.

You can also check out an infographic prepared by the Tecmundo staff for more information about the special suit and all the safety gear that will protect Felix during the jump.

[UPDATE - 10/09/2012]

Guys, it looks like today won't be the day Felix Baumgartner will jump out of space! Due to weather problems that compromised the functioning of the balloon, the adventure was postponed.

The device is about the thickness of a hair and can only take off with winds up to 5 kilometers per hour. And according to information from meteorologists present at the event, the winds reached 35 kilometers per hour, making it impossible to take off.

In addition, a communication problem between the skydiver and the control tower was also reported. At the moment, it seems that there will be a retry tomorrow, so stay tuned to catch up.

[UPDATE 2 - 10/14/2012]

The jump was initially scheduled for 10:30 am (GMT) this Sunday, but again weather conditions did not help. A new attempt must be made at 12:15 pm (Brasília time). Let's hope this time it is possible for Felix to try the feat.
