Lawyer Makes Amazing Portraits With BIC Pen [Gallery]

The image you can see above, while extremely realistic, is not a photograph but a drawing made using BIC pens. More surprisingly, the portrait was not produced by a famous artist, but by a young Portuguese lawyer who draws for pure hobby.

According to the folks at Oddity Central, Samuel Silva learned to draw by himself while still in school, making sketches on the back pages of his notebooks. Nowadays, to create his incredible portraits, Samuel exclusively uses BIC pens, employing 8 different colors, never merging or matching the tones.

According to the lawyer-artist, to achieve the desired tones he uses the hatch technique, overlapping layers of different colors that create the illusion of volume, depth and texture of the images. Who would say a lawyer could show so much talent with a pen that it wasn't just for signing documents and contracts!
