Artist makes portrait of Adele using lighted candles [video]

Here's another example that you don't need to invest in very sophisticated material to create amazing artwork. Hong Yi, the young artist you just saw in action in the video, recreated the cover of British singer Adele's CD using lit candles and paraffin.

According to the young woman, the portrait is part of a project involving the four elements - fire, water, earth and air - and she was inspired by the song “Set Fire to the Rain” in by Adele to create this work, which represents fire. For the artist, Adele refers to her tears when talking about the rain, which is why she chose blue candles. Incidentally, to make the portrait, Hong used 1, 500 candles and took 7 hours to complete the work!
