When one of the most successful men of the last century indicates a book, you have little choice but to read the parade. Last week, Bill Gates shared his all-time favorite new book: Enlightenment Now, by Canadian linguist and psychologist Steven Pinker.

The title is something like “Lighting Now, ” in light free translation. In the work, Pinker shows that the world is getting better, even if her aunt says she's lost. The author, who is also doing a very popular scientific work, maps violence throughout history and has applied 15 meters (quality of life, knowledge and safety) to indicate our progress.

Needless to say, the work is already among the most sold on Amazon, right? But so, Bill ... Why should I read this book?

The result is a holistic picture of how and why the world is getting better.

Despite slowly appreciating the work, Gates says most people will find it a "quick and affordable" read.

Being Bill Gates Has Its Advantages

Gates has received the book before, but ordinary humans will be able to appreciate the work from February 13th . There is not yet a forecast of arrival of the book to Brazil, but you can get the gringa version without much difficulty. Pinker has other books published in the country, such as What is Thought Made (2008) and The Good Angels of Our Nature (2013) "Uncle Bill" even recorded a video in which he comments Enlightenment Now next to Pinker, takes a look (English content).
