Bloggers cry: Spanish wants to tax trip to the dressing room

Trying on clothes has an almost cathartic effect: a lot of people love to select multiple pieces, take them to the fitting room and test every possible combination of looks. Some people do this in search of models that will be searched later on the internet with a cheaper price, something that makes shopkeepers uncomfortable.

With that in mind, Pilar del Olmo, minister of economy and treasury in the province of Castilla y León, Spain, came up with the idea of charging a fee to consumers who just want to try on their clothes! According to Pilar, this would be a way to counter the unethical attitude of trying on clothes in a place to buy them virtually later.

In addition, Pilar says this is a practice that is intended primarily to benefit small retailers, as large retail chains vary very little in their online and physical store prices. With the negative repercussion of the proposal, the policy stated that this was “just an idea”. Who else would lose out on such a proposal: the stores or the bloggers? Make your bets!
