Known for work on films such as Titanic and Avatar, filmmaker James Cameron has just added one more item to his extensive track record of achievement. Last Sunday (March 25), it hit the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest point in the ocean, which has not been reached by a human since 1960.

Cameron spent three hours on site collecting samples and recording videos with various high resolution 3D cameras. The expedition was the culmination of seven years of work, which resulted in the construction of the Deepsea Challenger submarine for a single crewman made of special materials capable of withstanding the high pressures encountered during the journey.

The first attitude of the filmmaker after descending 10, 848 meters was to post a message on Twitter disclosing the feat: “I just reached the deepest point of the ocean. Reaching the lowest point has never been so good. I can't wait to share what I'm seeing with you, ”said the director.
