Bonus: Before being known as Shazam, Billy Batson's alter ego was called Captain Marvel. The character was created in 1939 by publisher Fawcett, who was sued by DC over the hero's similarities to Superman. Remember that this happened long before the publisher Marvel was launched in 1961.

DC Comics, however, only acquired the rights to the character in the 1970s, when the rival had already created a hero named Captain Marvel, who is part of Carol Danvers' stories. Because of this, the company was forced to rename its character Shazam, which stands for the gods that empower Billy Batson: Solomon (wisdom); Hercules (force); Atlas (vigor); Zeus (power); Achilles (courage); and Mercury (velocity).
