Meet Morris, the City Hall Candidate for a Mexican City

Have you thought about the ideal candidate for the mayor of your city? As much as elections are not near here in Brazil, it is always important to keep thinking about politics. In Mexico, polls are approaching and people are already talking about possible candidates; so far so good, after all there is always speculation about this kind of subject.

The news there is that one of the competitors is a cat. Yes, a cat. It all started when residents of the city of Xalapa, capital of Veracruz, decided to protest political corruption in a different way. Protesters stated that it would be ideal for a cat to lead the town hall so that it could combat the existence of corrupt, "rat" politicians.

The feline candidate is called Morris, his slogan is "Xalapa without rats" and the campaign already has thousands of fans. Morris's promises include doing what other politicians already do: sleep and take time off. One of the students responsible for the cat's campaign, Jair Cuevas, argued that Mexican politicians never deliver on their promises.

"Our candidate promises to sleep, eat, yawn and play in the dirt, and that's what he will do if he wins the election, " the campaign scoffs. The candidate, who confesses to having a crush on pillows, sheets, sofas and the like, guarantees that it will not be just any other cat if he wins the campaign. Morris's Facebook page has more fans than the other three candidates. So, what did you think about this protest?
