Meet the worst traffic jam in history. It gets desperate

Living in a big city and being free from traffic jams is virtually impossible. Any place that is highly populated is plagued by this problem, and it's proven to be the places that suffer the most from Bangkok, Beijing, Los Angeles, Washington DC and Sao Paulo! Of course the drizzle land has entered the ranking!

In these places, people spend, on average, an entire week of work stopped at the traffic jam. It's too much! The Curious Mega has listed the 5 worst traffic jams in history, but do you know which was the worst of them so far? Not? The award goes to Beijing, China, because of a traffic jam that occurred in 2010.

But after all, what happened?

Residents of the Chinese capital suffered a 100-kilometer monster congestion that lasted no less than 12 days. During that time the cars were only three kilometers per hour and some drivers spent up to five days stuck in traffic. Sure, quite desperate.

This scary traffic jam happened on China National Highway 110. Do you know why? Ironically, it was all because of the construction of new roads that aimed to alleviate traffic congestion in the city. However, there was no capacity to deal with construction work and construction trucks. The rest is history.

To make things worse...

As little misfortune is silly, the situation has worsened further because of the cars that overheated and crashed all the time. Everything worked so that the drivers could not even leave the place for several days. Imagine if that happened in your city? Yeah, it's not even good to think about it.

And of course that was not all! As opportunists emerge as plagues, malicious vendors have sprung up offering water, juice, cigarettes, instant noodles, snacks, sweets and all kinds of food at exorbitant prices, up to 10 times more expensive than normal product rates. It was practically a robbery.

Woe to those who dared not buy from them. Drivers were threatened with having their cars destroyed. There were several robberies, money and fuel were explicitly stolen and more than 400 police officers were sent to constantly patrol the road, preventing further crimes from being committed.

Passing the time

And that didn't last a day or two. Almost two weeks passed and none of the traffic returned to normal. The cars spent hours on end or crawled at an incredibly slow pace. Meanwhile, drivers spent their time playing cards, chess, dozing in their cars, talking to other travelers, and doing anything of the kind.

Of course we don't even want to think about facing such a traffic jam, but some truckers decided to take this route (when they could deviate) because they could take longer on the road and thus increase their earnings (especially those working for carriers). Obviously this did not help the situation at all.

Surprisingly, the traffic jam disappeared out of nowhere on the 12th day. Employees predicted more time with this hellish traffic jam and were startled by the sudden disappearance of cars, which began to move faster and disappear into other routes. Days that Chinese drivers want to forget forever.

But as we can't make it cheap ...

Yeah, Beijing may have set the longest-running bottleneck record, but we don't make it cheap and the longest bottleneck record (in terms of distance) goes to Sao Paulo, of course! The São Paulo capital regularly has traffic jams of up to 295 kilometers in length! Discouraging!
