Wouldn't it be nice if you could enjoy that wonderful dish you love from that upscale restaurant in your favorite bar? This is the idea of gastrobars or gastropubs, which are already appearing in our country.

This new establishment concept consists of bars that offer well-prepared restaurant dishes at their most expensive prices on their menu. Some say the origin is British, derived directly from traditional pubs. But some credit the invention of the American dinings.

Whatever the origin, it is even in England that there are more gastrobars; some already famous and starred in the Michelin Guide such as Pony & Trap in Chew Magna, near Bristol in England, led by young chef Josh Eggleton.

Spain has also joined the trend, which was even well publicized at the 2009 Madrid Fúsion, avant-garde gastronomy congress. Spanish star chefs have opened their gastrobars, such as Paco Roncero of La Terraza del Casino, which created the Estado Pure gastrobar. Even the great Catalan chef Ferran Adrià surrendered to the news and opened his gastrobar in Barcelona, called 41 °.

Here in Brazil, São Paulo comes out ahead, with Vila Jardim and Back Gastrobar. Both offer a more sophisticated and pleasant bar ambience, with well-selected dishes of contemporary national and international cuisine. Learn more about these options in Brazil and some abroad and try this trend!
