Meet another platoon of soldiers worth an entire army

If you had to assemble an army of the most incredibly brave, fearless, brave people of all time, you could find quite a few of them in the various articles that we here at Mega Curious have already posted about beyond fearless soldiers! You can check out some of these brave warriors at this link, this one here, this one and here too - and meet five other daring military men to follow:

1 - William F. Leonard

Imagine the following scenario: You are in occupied France in the middle of World War II, there are only eight members left in your platoon, and you are under fire from snipers, heavy artillery and mortars on a road blocked by a barricade. Would you rub tallow and run off to the hills? For the American William F. Leonard gathered the surviving soldiers and set off for the Rambo-style attack.

Leonard began hitting two snipers - one only 15 meters from him, and the other just over 20 - but was hit twice in the back. And you think he stopped? No ... Leonard rushed toward a machine gun, launched a grenade, and sent weapons and enemies into the air. It was then that the Germans tried to hit the soldier with a bazooka shot.

Luckily, the blast did not kill the American - who left for the second machine gun post and again blew it up with a grenade. In the end, Leonard killed all the enemies of the barricade, was decorated for his bravery, and still lived peacefully until he was 72 years old.

2 - Bishnu Shrestha

The military is not always limited to showing bravery only in wars - and this is the case with former Nepalese soldier Bishnu Shrestha. Shortly after retiring from military life when he was 35 years old, Bishnu was traveling home when something terrible happened.

He was there, sitting quietly in the middle of the night, looking out over the landscape of West Bengal, when the train he was on was taken by a gang of 40 armed men. The bandits began to assault everyone from wagon to wagon carrying everything they found along the way, such as cell phones, money, jewelry, etc., and Bishnu remained quiet until ...

The criminals turned their attention to a teenager near the Nepalese, and seeing that she would be abused by them, Bishnu drew his khukuri - a small pocket knife - and set off for the attack. Alone and confined in a confined space, the former soldier killed three bandits, injured eight others badly, and as he climbed over the remaining 29, they fled in fright from the military's fury.

3 - Manuel V. Mendoza

During World War II, the American Manuel Mendoza was fighting with his platoon against enemy lines when the group became the target of a strong mortar attack. The soldier was seriously injured, but that did not make him whimper and wait for help. Instead, he wielded a submachine gun and set off toward the enemy hill from which the gunfire departed.

But instead of running into a dozen Germans, Mendoza ran into some 200 armed Nazi soldiers to the teeth. And you know what he - alone and hurt - decided to do? Sink your finger on the trigger and send bullets everywhere!

During his "solo" performance, Mendoza killed at least 10 enemy military personnel, wounded dozens more and managed to drive them away, preventing the Nazis from organizing a counterattack. Finally, the American found a safe place to hide and not only survived the war, but lived to be 79 years old.

4 - Douglas Bader

Bader was a talented Royal Air Force pilot who, during an air show, had a serious accident and had both legs amputated. However, the disaster did not prevent him from "kicking" many enemy butts in World War II. When things started to get ugly for England, Bader put himself at the service of his country and flew straight into battle.

Too bad Bader was shot down in France - after shooting down dozens of Nazi fighters - before he could touch terror in enemy airspace any longer. But do not think that the Germans got rid of it that easily. The British survived the crash of his aircraft and was captured as a prisoner.

But Bader (without his legs) tried to escape so many times that the Nazis decided to arrest him at Colditz Castle, which was where allied officers deemed incorrigible were sent. Interestingly enough, the Germans who ran the place learned of the British's adventures and decided to allow the English to send Bader mechanical legs - which he employed to ... guess what! Resume your escape attempts, why.

5 - Leigh Ann Hester

It's not often that we talk about women on our lists of fearless soldiers, but Leigh Ann Hester, the girl in the following image, certainly deserves her place here. In 2005, she was in the service of the US Army, and her mission was to lead a convoy safely through a region seized by insurgents.

Then, suddenly, the group was hit by a rocket-launched grenade, and when the convoy stopped, dozens of rebels began to emerge from their trenches and open fire on the Americans. At this point, Leigh Ann's group was completely surrounded and at the mercy of the Iraqis, and she thought it would be a good idea to file her nails and touch up her makeup. It even seems!

Leigh Ann grabbed a machine gun, jumped out of her truck and, along with soldier Thimoty Nein, ran to the nearest trench and opened fire. After killing all the insurgents who were there, she began firing at the others. In the end, the girl commanded an operation that saved the lives of all members of her unit and ended the lives of all the rebels.

For her achievement, Leigh Ann was awarded the Silver Star - or Silver Star - and became the first woman to receive this medal of bravery since World War II.
