Cookie, is that you? Sesame Street character-like sponge found

You remember watching “Sesame Street” when you were younger, probably - or at least you've heard of the show. The blue character Cookie seems to have relatives of different species at the bottom of the sea. A photograph taken by Mauricio Handler, an expert in underwater shooting, reveals a beautiful “face” sea sponge very similar to that of the character Cookie.

The image was produced during a Handler dive in Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles. The species, which feeds on plankton, is called Aplysina archeri and has the popular name "stove tube".

In an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, the photographer explained that he used lighting techniques to make the sponge look more "human", taking advantage of the similar shapes with two eyes and a mouth. "Of course that was a sponge in an unusual and comical way, and I was surprised no one photographed it, " Handler said in a statement published in the newspaper. So, did you think the sponge really looks like Cookie?
