170kg dancer becomes hit on YouTube and wins US TV show

Last year, dancer Whitney Thore, who lives in North Carolina, USA, began posting on her YouTube channel several videos where she appears dancing alone or in the company of some friends.

The video series, called “Fat Girl Dancing, ” has been a big hit on the internet, and as a result Whitney will get a reality TV show to show off some of her personal and family life, of your dance and the problems someone with your weight needs to face.

Personal and health problems

Whitney, who is now 30, has already been thin but has gained weight from several problems, including polycystic ovary syndrome, which increases the propensity to gain weight in women who suffer from it. However, personal reasons also caused her to gain 90 kg of overweight.

"My parents always supported me and they were loving. They really are like that, but my dad and I pulled back a little when I gained weight because he really wanted me to lose weight, " she said in an interview with the BBC news network. Her father used to tell her, “Whitney, I know you're fighting, but you can't change the world. You have to fit in with society. ”

Changing people's minds

"I even lost 45 pounds once, but I got fat again and was so upset I said, 'You know, Dad, I don't care anymore, I'm going to be myself.' And he said, 'Well, Whitney, you're going to have problems.' "recalled the dancer during the interview.

But after seeing the girl's success, both on YouTube and her own TV show, and realizing the effect her videos had on others, his speech turned out to be another: “I know I said you couldn't change the world, but I changed my mind, ”said Whitney's father.

The name of the show is “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” and airs on TLC.
