After weighing only 18 kg, actress raises flag against anorexia

Anorexia is an eating disorder usually caused by one's image of oneself. Because she is overweight, she develops anxiety that causes her to lose weight far beyond what can be considered healthy. In Brazil, it is estimated that about 100, 000 people suffer from this problem, mainly women.

Earlier this year, an American actress drew the world's attention to anorexia: at 37 years and 18 kg, Rachael Farrokh recorded a video calling for help in overcoming the disorder. She was on the verge of death and in her dramatic statement told how she had faced the problem ten years ago. Your call for help has been viewed more than 4 million times. Check it out here.

Rachael could not stand due to the fragility of her body

Body and mind

Living in California, Rachael needed help to fund treatment at a hospital across the US - the only one who accepted her in her fragile condition. The initial goal was to raise $ 100, 000, but she achieved twice that. It was enough to pay for a hospital in the same state she lives in and then continue treatment at a specialist clinic in Portugal.

"My body didn't respond to any treatment because no one understood that my brain worked differently than my body, " Rachael explained. In Europe, she finally got doctors who were treating both parties simultaneously, making her, for the first time in years, respond well to interventions and rehabilitation.

"I was finally being treated with respect and I didn't even know I deserved it, " said the actress. Now, about six months after shocking the world with its thinness, Rachael already exhibits a new silhouette and a new look. The fight is still going on, and the actress has a Facebook page to tell all her progress.
