On their honeymoon, this couple filled their faces and decided to buy a hotel

Oh, the wedding… After a while together, two people decide to make the union official, make that pretty party and leave for their honeymoon trip, right? This is exactly how the lovebirds Gina Lyons and Mark Lee from London got married in June 2017 and embarked for a 3-week trip in December.

The two booked a suite at a rustic Sri Lankan hotel facing the sea, and once they arrived there they were greeted by the staff. The reception was so heated that the two of them had already taken a bump with the bartender, which eventually leaked the information that the rental agreement was about to end.

After a few glasses of rum, the newlyweds got to that point of drunkenness where any idea seems genius, including taking over the new hotel contract - which would cost £ 30, 000, the equivalent of $ 148, 000.

Jeez!

The idea was the result of drunkenness, but the truth is that the next day the two woke up and thought that this could be an interesting investment. The next step was to talk to the real estate and rental agents.

The couple in charge of the hotel did not speak English, so Gina and Mark called some of the friends they had made the night before to translate the negotiation. “And since we didn't understand most of the conversation, Mark and I sat drinking more rum and slowly we got drunk again, ” Gina said in a statement published in the Mirror.

In the end, the deal was closed, and they agreed to pay the £ 30, 000 for a 3-year lease. In addition, there were over £ 11, 000 in documentation and legal expenses.

The first part of the contract, £ 15, 000, was paid normally; but in March of this year, when they should pay the rest, Ginny found out she was pregnant: “I felt like I was already a bad mother, because I felt guilty about spending all that money buying a business that may not work. Even our friends and family think we're stupid and we shouldn't have done that. We owe a lot of money because of marriage, we live in a tiny apartment and now we have a baby on the way, ”she said.

With all this responsibility in their hands, the couple decided to drop everything and dive headlong into the new business. Since July, the seven-room hotel has been in regular operation and hosting several guests, to the delight of all.

What a story, huh !?
