These fascinating photos were recorded during World War I
When it comes to the memories - and scars - of World War I, the most common is that we come across images of trenches and battles fought in Europe, especially France. However, in the case of a global conflict, the military presence was quite large in many parts of the world, although we do not see the portraits so often.
The fascinating old photos you'll see below - gathered from a selection shared by Victoria Dando-Cardiff of Futurity - are just a few of the over 2, 000 portraits captured in Palestine, Syria, Egypt and other locations in Africa and World War I and were digitized and cataloged online by the University of Cardiff in Wales, UK.
