RoboCop Statue in Detroit Over 3 Meters Tall

A 10-foot-tall statue of the RoboCop character is almost done and has images posted on the internet.

The work is the result of a crowdfunding project in which fans of the character contributed financially to the assembly of the monument.

The character is a policeman who was killed in action and is turned into a cyborg to fight Detroit's crime in a time of heavy street violence.

The crowdfunding started in 2011 promised to raise $ 50, 000 to build the model. From the images released by the IGN website, the statue is almost ready and only the paint finish is needed to return the vigilante to the city streets.

According to campaign plans, the RoboCop statue will be placed on some Detroit street by the end of the summer later this year. For those who doubt if the replica is quite faithful to the image of the policeman in the film, it is worth checking out a classic excerpt from the 1987 work.

A remake of the film is being produced under the command of Brazilian director José Padilha and is expected to hit theaters in 2014.
