Global warming has become a constant theme in headlines around the world and, according to a story published by VANITY FAIR, US photographer James Balog has decided to go around the world to record images of the effects of this process on glaciers.

Balog's intention was to gather concrete evidence about the consequences of global warming, since 2007, covering glaciers in Alaska, Iceland, Nepal, Greenland, France and even Bolivia. The result, which you can see in the gallery below, is both extremely beautiful and terrifying:
