Mars eclipse shot to aid NASA research

Curiosity Rover - a probe that was sent to Mars by NASA - was able to capture images of a Martian eclipse. At first it may seem that scenes like these are not useful, but the record will help scientists study the orbit of the planet's two moons called Phobos and Deimos.

This will give the US space agency staff a chance to discover changes that have occurred on Mars, as they believe the Martian satellites were attracted by the gravity of the Red Planet - which suggests a different planetary structure than today.

In this way, scientists will try to understand what has happened on Mars since the "arrival" of Phobos and Deimos. In addition, the two moons have shifting orbits, the first of which is likely to be destroyed by the atmosphere of the Red Planet in the distant future.
