Game of Thrones: 10 old characters who can return!

The sixth season of Game of Thrones begins this Sunday, April 24, and in addition to discovering the next steps for central characters like Tyrion, Daenerys and Arya, we can see the return of old - and almost forgotten - figures from the series. .

Rumors indicate that the new season will feature the return of old characters not seen on the show. Of course, Bran Stark's return was expected and announced, but other people may return this season. And from the picture: Playback / HBO

As the series begins to move toward its finale (producers say they will produce just 13 more episodes after season six), it seems natural for older characters to return to complete their narrative roles and complete their dramatic arches.

See below which characters can resurface in the sixth season of Game of Thrones .

1. Walder Frey

Walder frey

Walder Frey was last seen during the Red Wedding when he opened the Twin doors to the cowardly murder of Robb and Catelyn. Old Frey was present in the recent trailer for season six, confirming his return!

2. Edmure Tully

Edmure Tully

Catelyn's brother was spared the Red Wedding massacre after marrying Roslin Frey. In the books, Edmure became a prisoner and used as an advantage in the siege of Correrrio.

3. Black Fish

Black fish

Catelyn's uncle was not captured at the Red Wedding; and in the books, Brynden retains control of Correrrio until Jaime Lannister negotiates his surrender using Edmure Tully. Black Fish has also escaped this siege, and its whereabouts are unknown.

4. The Brotherhood Without Flags

The Brotherhood Without Flags

The Brotherhood Without Flags may have been almost forgotten by viewers, but its importance has never been more relevant than it is now. Thoros de Myr's ability to resurrect Beric Dondarrion may be a good reminder of what Melissandre can do with Jon; Not to mention that in the books the group has a fundamental role in the return of Mrs. Heart of Stone.

5. Catelyn Stark

Catelyn stark

Speaking of Myr's Thoros, fans still expect to see Catelyn's return, who becomes Lady Stoneheart in the books after coming back to life at the hands of the wizard and Beric Dondarrion. Cat wants revenge on the Frey and the Lannisters, and demands from Brienne the promise of saving her daughters.

6. Rickon Stark

Rickon Stark

While much is being said about Bran's return, we remember that there is yet another orphan Stark hiding in Westeros. Little Rickon was last seen at the end of season three separating from his brother Bran with Osha to flee from his enemies. It's always worth remembering that there is one more legitimate heir to Winterfell - "The North Remembers".

7. Benjen Stark

Benjen stark

Another Stark who could return is Benjen, Uncle Ben as the Stark boys liked to call. The character has disappeared after a mission with the Night Rangers north of the Wall, and many fans speculate that Benjen may still reappear - the question is whether alive or undead!

8. Gendry

Gendry

Another character that can complicate Iron Throne inheritance is Gendry, Robert Baratheon's bastard son - but far more legitimate than Cersei's children! The character was last seen paddling across the Narrow Sea after Davos helped his escape from Melissandre and Stannis.

9. Hunting Dog

Hunting dog

After fighting Brienne and being left to die for Arya, Sandor Clegane can return in season six. Several rumors suggest that the character did not die, and readers have a theory that the Hound must at some point confront his brother Gregor Clegane (the Mountain, who underwent Qyburn experiments to survive the Red Viper poison).

10. Ned

Ned

This is one of the most certain returns for season six! But Eddard Stark will not come back from the dead, but in flashbacks. The sixth season should feature the events of the Tower of Joy, where Prince Rhaegar Targaryen hid Lyanna Stark, and where Ned met his sister before she died.

This narrative is part of the well-known R + L = J theory, which suggests that Jon Snow is actually the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, and therefore a legitimate Stark and heir Targaryen, who is entitled to the Iron Throne! In the Tower of Joy, Lyanna reportedly handed Jon over to Ned, who raised the child as his bastard son.
