Man is sued for sending WhatsApp groan with mayor photo

A man was sued for sharing a video with the image of Mayor Regina Coeli, from Pio IX, Piauí, accompanied by the sound of WhatsApp's groaning. Identified as Rogério Antão, he was forced to make an apology to the mayor. The hearing of the case took place on April 5.

Rogério shared in a messenger group a video with the mayor's photo, saying it was an interview with her. However, the person playing the video would just fall for the prank, listening to the audio taken from a pornographic movie.

The judge in charge of the case determined that the man should commit himself to respect the victim, apologizing for what he did and posting a video with the following message in the same group where he shared the groan: “My name is Rogério Antão and I want to portray myself here. offensive post I made to Mayor Regina, apologizing and sincerely pledging to respect her. ”

In an interview, the mayor said she filed the lawsuit as a citizen and not because of the position she holds. She recalled that the video did not contain any kind of criticism of the administration, but only a personal attack: “There is free expression, but not everyone is prepared for it [...]. Lack of education, respect and common sense. When this happens we need to go to the judiciary, ”he said.
