IA recreates famous faces - and in some cases the result is disturbing
As you may know, artificial intelligence machines have already been put in place to do all sorts of things, including works of art - or you didn't hear about the picture painted by an AI (Picasso's) that went on auction in the US. ? For recently, Mauro Martino, director of IBM's Visual IA Lab, announced that he has developed a website where people can upload personal photos and let AI create portraits from the images provided.
Well, the folks at Futurism decided to play a little and test the algorithm's artificial artist skills, so the team put together a selection of photos of famous personalities - like Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, Nicolas Cage and Marie Curie. - and let the AI create its representations. As you will see below, in some cases the algorithm came close, while in others the result was slightly disturbing. Check out:
Neil DeGrasse Tyson
The AI did a good job of recreating the astrophysicist's face, although it seems to have been a little confused by Tyson's mustache and the proportions of his cheeks. The digital version is fuller than the real one, right?
Nicolas Cage
Until the algorithm yielded a pretty good result from Nicolas Cage! The image is very close to the real one - although, if you notice well, the AI bugged the actor's chest hair and “stuck” some of it around his neck. Have you noticed?
Donald Trump
Obviously AI had no idea what to do with Donald Trump's face, since the version created by the algorithm bears no resemblance to the man. On a second attempt, which you can see below, the AI handed Trump with a woman's face (which is quite ironic!):
Marie Curie
Considering that in the base image Marie Curie does not appear completely in front, and that it is a black and white photo - which AI had to turn to colorize - the end result is even satisfactory.
Elon Musk
Another personality the AI was able to recreate was Elon Musk - and even the businessman's mischievous mustache was included in the portrait.
Hilary clinton
The impression is that AI didn't really like Hilary Clinton's haircut or her makeup, after all, the algorithm delivered the portrait of an 80-90 lady.
Mark zuckerberg
Poor Zuckerberg ... Did you notice that the algorithm made him fuss?
Mega essay test
And this is a test we did with a photo here in the newsroom, and as you can see, just as AI had difficulties with the black and white image of Marie Curie, the algorithm must not have found it easy to color the portrait.
