Impressive! This image shows a commercial aviation record

Everybody knows that every day thousands and thousands of people board planes and travel the skies of the world, right? But are you aware of how many commercial aircraft take off and travel the most diverse air routes every day? Get ready to be surprised, as they are MANY . So many!

Air traffic jam

There is a portal called Flightradar24 that tracks all commercial flights taking place around the world - and people there announced that last Friday, June 29, there was a record amount of air travel. According to Yúbal FM of the Xataka website, the portal accounted for a total of 202, 157 in a single day, the largest since Flightradar24 staff began tracking civil aviation travel 12 years ago.

It's too much! By the same token, the portal even tracked peaks where more than 19, 000 planes were flying at a time. Hard to imagine so much aircraft joining in the sky? The cool thing is that the folks at Flightradar24 created an animation to help the crowd visualize last Friday's air traffic jam. See below:

Yesterday was the busiest day of the year in the skies so far and our busiest day ever. 202, 157 flights tracked! More than 200, 000 flights in a single day on https://t.co/krDfUYSbzK pic.twitter.com/ApCMHaVEQp

As noted by Yúbal - from Xataka - in the images above, it is evident that the largest air traffic is concentrated on Europe, the United States and Asia, especially on the east coast of China. As for Russia, Canada and Africa, the movement is much smaller - with South and Latin America, as well as Oceania, presenting an average flow. Here in Brazil, as you may have noticed, the largest aircraft traffic can be observed in the southeastern region of the country.

And that is not all!

If you were impressed by the number of flights on Friday, it is worth mentioning that the 202, 157 correspond to 70% of the aircraft in the world! That's because Flightradar24 gets its data from ADS-B, MLSAT, Flarm, and real-time information provided by US and Canadian airspace controllers, but not all airplanes use these technologies and therefore are not tracked.

In addition, there are also military aircraft and commercial aircraft that do not carry passengers - which have not entered the account released by Flightradar24! Awesome, isn't it? And, according to Yúbal revealed, in 2017 alone, 36.8 million commercial flights were registered, resulting in an average of 101 thousand flights per day. However, last Friday, the number of aircraft registered in the sky was more than double the daily average. Incidentally, with this data in mind, it is clear that air travel really is incredibly safe ...
