Unhappy forever: what would happen if the tales were real?

In Disney movies, what everyone is used to seeing is a "happy ending." The beautiful princess meets the prince charming, they get married, have children and live happily ever after. But the reality is not quite that ... Just like in real life, the story can end up very tragic.

With that in mind, artist José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros and photographer Dina Goldstein have decided to adapt Disney's likeable characters to a more down-to-earth reality that will make you reflect a little on the true meaning of fairy tales.

Profrano Pop

José Rodolfo Ontiveros innovated by putting Disney characters in awkward situations. In his exhibition "Profanity Pop", the artist portrays, for example, the true secret behind Goofy and Donald's personality. If you thought all those disproportionate chuckles and laughter were for nothing, you'd better review your concepts.

In the image below, the princesses recall how their hearts were broken by the infamous princes. Nothing beats pissing and gathering friends to drown their sorrows. Even Mexican painter Frida Kahlo gives the air of grace in painting.

Disney princesses are also reputed to be nice, well behaved and submissive. But if you see what Cinderella did to her stepmother's portrait, think twice about messing with a princess.

After several fights with her prince, Snow White gained a few pounds. However, nothing prevents the girl from taking pictures in the mirror and proves that there is no one more beautiful than her.

In the works of Ontiveros, not even what is held sacred is forgiven. What would happen if, after three days, it was Mickey who resurrected? Was the virgin Mary pleased with her pregnancy test? Whose face is in the Holy Shroud? Would a woman regarded as a sinner welcome the church?

A more open minded Disney

Another thing that is not seen much in the universe of Disney are homosexual characters. In virtually every story, the defenseless princess finds the prince charming, and they live happily ever after - even if only on the front. But is it always like this? In the world portrayed by Onivoros there is room for all kinds of love. Entitled even to gay marriage celebrated by Pope Francis.

The bare reality

Dina Goldstein tends to regard the princess world as even more destructive and pessimistic. In her Fallen Princesses series, the photographer puts Disney princesses in real everyday situations that are not so "happy".

Poor Snow White, for example, has become a housewife who needs to take care of her four children while the prince of her dreams watches television - any resemblance to real life is purely coincidental.

In turn, the - not so young - Bela reveals some of her tricks to remain beautiful and attractive. Who would say that the princess would resort to various surgical treatments to remain always beautiful?

Helpless Ariel was tricked into leaving her home just to lock herself in an aquarium and entertain the children. Meanwhile, Cinderella drowns her sorrows in a glass of beer and Jasmine was sent to war to fight in Iraq.

In turn, Pocahontas has been abandoned at home and fills her loneliness with the company of dozens of cats. Poor Rapunzel lost her locks due to the chemotherapy treatment, Sleeping Beauty kept dreaming of her enchanted prince, and Little Red Riding Hood ate all the basket that was to be handed to the grandmother. Apparently, being a fairytale character isn't easy either.
