Nutella jar accused of causing fire in London

A fire in a house in Twickenham, southwest London, may have been caused by an empty jar of Nutella. According to the researchers, the flask in the window may have amplified the sun's rays and caused some sensitive surface to ignite.

Luckily, resident Declan Murphy was celebrating his wife's birthday with their children at the time of the accident on February 15 this year. Chilli, the family dog, was the only registered victim.

Charlie Pugsley of the fire brigade said it seems unrealistic that a simple jar with some rubber bands could have done so much damage to a house. However, the bottle was definitely to blame.

London Fire Brigade officials said approximately 125 fires had occurred under similar circumstances in the past five years and warned that these unusual events could happen in both winter and summer.
