Powerful lick! American Holds World's Largest Language Record

The 60th edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, the Book of Records, was released last week in the United States, bringing, among other things, the world's largest language record. The owner of this big tongue is American Byron Schlenker, 46, who lives in Syracuse, a city in New York state.

Let's go to the numbers? Byron's tongue width measures 8.3 centimeters, with the old record being 7.9 centimeters. Remember that we are not talking about length, as the current holder of this record is Nick Stoeberl, 24, who has a tongue that measures 10.1 centimeters.

How it all began

In Byron's case, it all started when his 13-year-old daughter was looking for a book for schoolwork. So he suggested to her the 2012 edition of the Book of Records and randomly opened the page where "the world's largest language" was to show his daughter, which caught her eye.

Driving home, Byron asked his family how big his own language was and asked his wife Vicki to measure it, half jokingly. The wife did not give much ball, so he asked his daughter to make the measurement. They then concluded that the measure was higher than the record in the book and were excited.

Byron then contacted Guinness and received an email back saying that it was necessary to pay about $ 2, 500 for a Guinness representative to visit him to measure the immense language. "I stopped reading the e-mail after that. I thought it was enough just to send the photos. I dropped the subject and forgot, " Schlenker told Syracuse.com.

However, about eight months later, a Guinness World Records representative in London was deleting old files when she came across the picture of Byron. She asked a doctor and two experts to go to the city of Byron to measure Byron's language and the record was made.

After that, Guinness sent him a certificate confirming that he broke the record. "I would never have done that if they hadn't contacted me back. It wasn't something I was looking for. I don't care if anyone beats my record or not, " the lingona owner concluded.

Despite the size of his tongue, Byron Schlenker has never had difficulty speaking, but he has sleep apnea and usually snores.
