Largest brain tumor in history is taken from Indian

Have you ever imagined living with a foreign body that grows day by day and you can't do anything? Santlal Pal, 31, has spent the last 12 months with this suffering: the Indian saw a tumor growing in the back of his head that caused him severe pain without anything being done at the moment.

The business grew so much that it weighed 1.8 kg! Because of the impressive size, doctors said it was as if Santlal had a second head. Fortunately, last week, February 14, surgeons at Nair Hospital in Bombay managed to remove the tumor tissue in an operation that lasted more than 7 hours.

Although it has grown wildly over the past year, Santlal's head has been in his head since 2015. The infected tissue was between the leather hair and skull of the man who works as a merchant in Uttar Pradesh. However, as 10% of the cancerous mass was inside the skull, the operation was very risky, causing many neurosurgeons to give up the venture.

Before and after: patient remains hospitalized but recovery should be complete

As it became emergency, the surgery was scheduled for February 14, almost secretly, after all, her success was highly unlikely. It was 7 hours of operation, 11 bags of blood for transfusion and 3 days intubated until the first signs that everything was really on schedule were noticed.

Santlal remains hospitalized in the hospital ICU, but only until fully recovered. According to neurosurgeon Trimurti Nadkarni, the patient only sought help after the tumor entered his skull and pressed the optic nerve, causing him to temporarily lose his sight. He still cannot see, but doctors believe this will be reversible from the moment the nerve fully recovers.

Santlal already had a leg tumor four years ago that he treated with chemotherapy. When the cancer spread to the head, he had only 3 sessions and abandoned treatment because of the side effects of the medication.
