Innocent puppy bite leads a woman to death in the USA

A few days ago, we at Mega Curioso shared here the news of an American from Wisconsin who almost died and ended up having his legs and hands amputated because of a sinister infection that he contracted after receiving his dog's lick. You can check out the full article through this link, but here we tell you that this type of case is quite unusual and, when it occurs, it usually affects people with weakened immunity.

Again

For, in a tragic coincidence - or because the dogs of Wisconsin are sons of the Dog - a new death has been recorded in Wisconsin from contact with dogs. According to Rachael Rettner of Live Science this time, the victim was a 58-year-old woman named Sharon Larson, who developed a widespread infection that caused her death from saliva from her pet.

According to Rachael, Sharon had just adopted a puppy and the bite took a bite that eventually caused a small cut in its skin - something every owner of new puppies has gone through. However, as with the man who had to go through the amputations, Sharon eventually contracted Capnocytophaga canimorsus, a bacterium that, as we explained earlier, can often be found in the mouths of dogs and cats.

Shortly after the bite, Sharon began to have flu-like symptoms, but two days later he died in hospital. Again, this case, while tragic, should not arouse fear of dogs and cats, as it is incredibly rare for anyone to contract C. canimorsus and progress to very serious conditions. As far as we find out, the fact that the two occurrences were recorded in Wisconsin is a sad coincidence.

As mentioned, we should be concerned about people with weakened immunity, such as patients diagnosed with cancer and diabetes, people with HIV and individuals who have had their spleen removed, for example. In addition, of the registered cases, most were affected people over 40 years of age. The doctors who treated Sharon did not disclose whether she had any health problems or not, so we do not know why she progressed to such a serious condition so quickly.
