Woman is fined for decorating electronic anklet with fake diamonds

Rebbeca Gallanagh, 22, was ordered to wear an ankle monitor after being involved in a nightclub fight in Staffordshire, England. As part of the punishment, she needs to meet curfew by returning home at 9 pm.

According to the accused, no one informed her about prohibitions related to the decoration of the device. But the change, while innocent, did not please the anklet makers, which led the girl back to court.

The girl tells that she was inspired by a wedding reality show, Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, in which one of the participants personalizes her electronic device for the event. She comments to The Daily Mail that "she saw the photos online and checked the instruction leaflet, and nowhere said she could not decorate it, " she says.

However, Serco Home Affairs, the company responsible for the device, reports that changes made by Rebbeca compromise the integrity of the device, as well as the possibility of impacting its functionality. The girl was fined 140 pounds (R $ 426, 51).
