NASA Releases Spectacular Images of Last Solar Flare

On July 12, a massive - relatively powerful - class X 1.4 solar flare was reported to occur directed at Earth. Although NASA is keeping an eye out, there is currently no risk of damage to orbiting or surface equipment.

However, as you can see from the space agency's time-lapse video above, the eruption offered a separate spectacle, with beautiful images captured at different wavelengths that make it easier to observe the explosions. Check out more images of this beautiful event in the gallery below:
