Niteroi 64? See the new logo of the city of Rio de Janeiro


Last Wednesday, the 16th, the city of NiterĂ³i held a ceremony to present the new visual identity that will be used by the institution in the coming years. The new logo will be printed from business cards to municipal student uniforms and official city vehicles.


According to Mayor Rodrigo Neves, the inspiration for the new logo came from the visual identity of cities such as Melbourne, Australia, and New York, United States. However, for many people the symbol is very similar to that used by Nintendo to promote the Nintendo 64 video game, originally released in 1996.

Some fans, intrigued by the resemblance between Niteroi's new visual identity and the Nintendo 64 symbol, have decided to create their own versions of logos from other gaming-inspired cities. See the result:
