Aliens may be ignoring us because of this bizarre photo

One of the coolest projects NASA has ever done is undoubtedly the Voyager Golden Record - or Voyager Gold Discs, translating to Portuguese. Basically, in 1977, the US agency fired two small spacecraft (Voyager 1 and Voyager 2) into outer space, each containing a collection of photographic discs containing sounds and images that serve as, say, a “sample” of what exists. in the land.

The idea is that, in the very distant future, these probes will be encountered by alien life forms, who may have an idea of what our planet's culture and diversity are like.

As we said, this is a pretty cool project, even though experts believe that even if aliens exist and find the disks, it will take so long that we will all be dead at the time. However, writer and graphic artist Richard Littler has lit a lamp on social media lately: It may be that the aliens have already found the records, but preferred to keep their distance from us because we are a somewhat strange race.

It turns out that on further research into the subject, Richard found that Voyager Golden Record includes some rather dubious materials, if we can describe it that way. What bothered the artist the most was a bizarre photo of a random man eating toast the wrong way - and, to make matters worse, by his side, we have another individual drinking water straight from a jar, pouring the essential liquid at a distance of about 10 inches from your mouth. Very normal.

“Want to know why we don't have contact with alien life? It's all this bizarre toast guy's fault. It's his fault. If I were a member of an advanced civilization I would pretend not to be home if these specimens knocked on my door saying 'Hey, can I come in? I came from earth. I * & with toast, '”Richard wrote on his Twitter. "Oh God, if aliens find this picture, they'll share it with all their little alien friends to make fun of us, " another netizen replied.

Other oddities

By the way, out of curiosity, this is not the only bizarre image that can be found on the Voyager Gold Discs. We also have a random photograph of random people having lunch (or dinner, whatever) and eating grapes. In short, it seems that NASA has sent a series of photos into space that would make anyone think we don't really know how to eat - of course, the aliens in question may not even have to feed like humans, but they do. You may be thinking, "My God… that's not how you like toast."

Just out of curiosity, the albums include greetings in 55 different languages (including Portuguese!), Some sounds (wind, rain, trains and even animals like horses and dogs), songs (including Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky and Mozart) a collection of 122 images. Some are very interesting, such as schematics of human anatomy and photographs of planets of our solar system. Others… Well… There are people eating toast. In a very strange way.

It is worth noting that Voyager 1 left our solar system in November 2004 and, within 40, 000 years, will pass 1.6 light years from the star AC + 79 3888 in the constellation Ophiuchus. Voyager 2 was 10.5 billion kilometers from the sun in May 2005, and over the next 40, 000 years it will approach Ross 248 in the Andromeda constellation.
