First fast food robot will start operating in 2018

Technologies for restaurant food production are increasingly in evidence in some parts of the world. Although this seems far from reality, it should be part of everyday life soon. At least that's what Creator, the American culinary robotics company, guarantees.

A company restaurant in California has already installed a robot capable of preparing a fast-food combo in just 5 minutes. The appliance is responsible for the entire preparation process. For example, in the case of a sandwich, it separates bread; put melted cheese; mince, season and cook hamburger meat; put sauce; slice onion and tomatoes; among others.

And the appeal is not just the machine, because the price of food is low: it only costs $ 6. Also, its taste should be a little above the average found in any famous fast food chain. That's because all the ingredients are fresh and selected, and the recipes were developed by chefs of elite restaurants.

Fast food robot was developed by professionals of large companies.

The robot is 4 meters long and consists of 20 computers, 350 sensors and 50 actuator mechanisms (which move from commands). With an industrial logic, it has glass tubes to store and transport the ingredients that will form a sandwich, for example. Just below, a horizontal conveyor belt slides leading each step until the entire process is completed.

Creator owner Alex Vardakostas brought together a robust team of engineers, designers and professionals in the robotics field with experience in major companies such as NASA, Apple, Tesla, R&D and Walt Disney Imagineering. Also completed by the team were some alumni of renowned restaurants in the United States.

Like many technology projects, Creator began to be devised in the Vardakostas family garage in 2012. It assumed that various instruments were always used to prepare such foods, so why not put them together. in a single equipment autonomously? The idea is also strongly linked to his years of experience frying hundreds of hamburgers in his parents' diner.

Pros and Cons Regarding Expenses

Even though the appliance is largely responsible for food preparation, the company has a staff of 40 people. They are responsible for activities such as replenishing ingredients, serving customers, and taking orders and taking orders. As for restaurant maintenance expenses, the cost of culinary products for production is still considerably high.

In this case, Creator has at least 10% higher spending than other restaurants in the business. On the other hand, there is some economy with personnel. The space occupied by the machine also makes it easier to optimize the location so that there are more seats.

The restaurant should be open to the public in September. Until then, Vardakostas plans to expand Creator to other cities, especially those that have a tradition of selling quality sandwiches at affordable prices, such as San Francisco. Similarly, the robot can be installed at airports, train stations, stadiums and universities, as production does not smell strongly of food during preparation.
