Record Break: World's Largest New Pumpkin Weighs Over 920kg

Last year, it was impressive to see that Ron Wallace of Rhode Island (USA) managed to harvest a gigantic pumpkin weighing just over 913 kilograms. However, even though this absurd mark may seem virtually unbeatable, a new vegetable (yes, squash is a vegetable, a close relative of watermelons, melons and even chayote) has been passed over.

According to a New York Botanical Garden publication, Tim and Susan Mathison of California managed to harvest a pumpkin that weighed an incredible 921 kg! Apparently, the pair had to wait 105 days altogether until the American jerimum could be harvested to this phenomenal size, without breaking into pieces and without cracking in its composition.

I was really very surprised and happy, ”says Tim Mathison in an interview with ABC-7 KIVA. And now just celebrate the record, cutting the fruit of the pumpkin in several pieces, to make the most varied recipes?

Of course not. The new record holder will be taken to New York to appear in a series of television events. Anyway, congratulations to Tim and Susan!
